PageShares cobrowsing technology is
available as Hosted Service
(ASP)
or it can be deployed inside your company
with our
Server Solution. Both are built with scalability in mind
and with the highest standards of security to meet the needs
of enterprise-class clients.
PageShare Cobrowse enables real-time, browser-based
cobrowsing that integrates easily with your existing platform.
PageShare allows multiple users to be on the same Web page
at the same time, sharing a bright pointer and joint form-filling
capabilities without downloads or permissions. There is no
costly equipment to purchase. User authentication, scrolling,
framesets, cookies, HTTPS, most JavaScript, Flash, and end-to-end
SSL encryption are all supported. Macintosh browsers are not
supported at this time.
How PageShare Works
When a User initiates a cobrowsing session
with a customer, the Web page is intercepted by a PageShare
server, which is implemented as a proxy server. The proxy
server acts as an intermediate between the Web site, the user
and the customer. In doing so, any interactions done by either
participant is instantly reflected, via the proxy, in the
other persons browser. (See Figure 1, below).
The proxy server also recognizes and incorporates the users
cookie so that the shared Web page is identical for both participants.
Figure 1: PageShare Proxy Server Architecture
Diagram
PageShare provides the simplest, most rapid
cobrowsing experience, since it requires no special plug-ins,
installations, or high bandwidth. PageShares proxy-server
approach enables a true cobrowsing experience, since a common
Web page and cookie are used. Multiple Internet users can
jointly engage in any online activity: co-navigation, form
filling, Web surfing, completing shopping cart purchases,
etc. The proxy server also allows for tighter security, in
that no downloads are required. SSL security is fully supported.
AN IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT PAGESHARE:
PageShare is not an "out-the-box" Solution.
PageShare has been built to be as robust as possible but in
some cases, web pages with complex JavaScript and other web
technologies must be reviewed and slight adjustments must
be made to the PageShare proxy server to ensure 100% functionality.
This is a standard process to this type of cobrowse technology
and is all part of the implementation process when working
with PageShare. We strive to work with as many different web
technologies as possible and work hard to meet your specific
needs.
